Zygote Intra Fallopian Transfer (ZIFT)

Description
Similar to in vitro fertilization except the combined egg and sperm (embryo) is inserted into the fallopian tube instead of the uterus as is performed with in vitro fertilization. The procedure is also referred to as tubal embryo transfer (TET). Unlike in vitro fertilization the woman must undergo laproscopic surgery to enable the doctor to insert the embryo directly into the fallopian tube.
