Uterine fibroid embolization (cut blood supply to fibroids)
Description
A surgical procedure to cut off the blood supply for uterine fibroids to shrink them. It is also called uterine artery embolization.

Common Complications
Damage to the ovaries resulting in infertility. 1% of the time the entire uterus is damaged requiring hysterectomy. Infection and blood clots can also occur.
