A small lighted tube is inserted through the urethra and bladder into the ureter (the tube connecting the bladder and kidneys). The most common reason for this procedure is to remove kidney stones.

Common Complications

Bladder or ureter perforation. A stricture can occur and is more likely to occur if the stone has been impacted for longer than two months. All surgery comes with the risk of infection and blood clots. General anesthesia runs the risk of allergic reactions or breathing problems.
