Upper extremity CT (CAT) scan with dye

Description
A test using special xrays that provides detail images of the bones, tendons, muscles, and joints of the arm. This test can identify broken bones, infections, arthritis, cancers, and nerve damage. Dye (contrast) is given in the vein to provide more detail and is generally used in disorders such as trauma or cancer.

Common Complications
There is a small risk of radiation. This risk is felt to be greater with babies and children. In some patients the dye can cause allergic reactions and/or kidney damage.
