Trigger point injections

Description
Trigger points are tight bands or "knots" of muscle that cause pain. The affected areas can include the arms, legs, neck, back, head, and face. The patient receives a local anesthetic in the skin. Once the area is numb the provider injects more local anesthetic and a steroid into the trigger point to reduce inflammation and the pain.
