Transabdominal ultrasound (imaging of abdomen)

Description
A diagnostic imaging procedure. The ultrasound device is pressed against the abdomen, and sound waves from the device bounce off tissues and create echoes. The pictures can be used to diagnose abnormalities of the liver, gallbladder, spleen, appendix, pancreas, kidneys and other conditions. This test is also used to see if there are abdominal aneurysms. Also known as abdominal ultrasound.
