Thermage (radiothermoplasty)

Description
A procedure that uses radio waves to tighten and firm the skin. Can be used to remove wrinkles and unwanted contours. The radio waves heat up a protein in the skin called collagen causing it to contract. The contraction of the collagen causes the skin to tighten and remove wrinkles. Initially the procedure was only performed on the face but now can be used in other areas of the body. The procedure takes about an hour in the doctor's office. Thermage is best recommended for wrinkles that are less than 2mm in depth. Average cost is $2,000 and the results last 6-24 months.
