Tenotomy (cutting of a tendon)

Description
Tenotomy is the cutting of a tendon. The procedure is done to lengthen a muscle that has been shortened. It is most commonly done to treat a club foot, a contracted bicep and a shortened achiles tendon.

Common Complications
Complications include injury to the joint, ligaments, cartilage, nerves or blood vessels. All surgery comes with the risk of infection and blood clots. General anesthesia runs the risk of allergic reactions or breathing problems.
