Salpingectomy (remove fallopian tubes)

Description
A surgical procedure to remove one or both fallopian tubes. The most common reasons for removal are tumors, ectopic pregnancy or in association with removal of the ovaries.

Common Complications
Injury to the bladder, intestines or pelvic blood vessels. The surgery can result in post-operative pain, infection or blood clots of the legs (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs (pulmonary embolus). Patients can infrequently have bad reactions to the general anesthesia including allergic reactions and very rarely a heart attack or stroke.
