Robotic surgery (robot assisted surgery)

Description
A surgical procedure assisted by robotic arms that perform the surgery with a variety of surgical tools. The robotic arms give surgeons more intricate motion and tool control for complex surgeries. It is used for a variety of surgeries within surgical subspecialties such as gynecology, urology, general surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery.

Common Complications
Injury to normal surrounding structures. The surgery can result in post-operative pain, infection or blood clots of the legs (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs (pulmonary embolus). Patients can infrequently have bad reactions to the general anesthesia including allergic reactions and very rarely a heart attack or stroke.
