Renal ultrasound (kidney ultrasound)

Description
An ultrasound (sonogram) consists of high frequency sound waves. A renal ultrasound is done to evaluate the kidney's size, position, and shape. The test can detect kidney stones, tumors, and cysts. If a Doppler exam is also performed blood flow to the kidneys can be detected.
