Rectal biopsy

Description
A small piece of rectal tissue is taken to examine under the microscope to detect for disease, cancer or to culture the tissue to detect an infection. The procedure is done through a scope inserted into the rectum.

Common Complications
Pain, bleeding, infection, or perforation of the rectum.
