Neuroma excision

Description
An incision is made over the neuroma and the fibrous nerve tissue is removed. The foot can be numbed at the ankle or the patient can be given general anesthesia.

Common Complications
Complications include injury to the joint, ligaments, cartilage, nerves or blood vessels. All surgery comes with the risk of infection and blood clots. General anesthesia runs the risk of allergic reactions or breathing problems. The surgery may not relieve the pain or deformity of the foot.
