Neck CTA (CT angiogram)

Description
A special xray that enables a doctor to see abnormalities of the neck and blood vessels of the neck. This test is most often used to detect blocked arteries causing strokes, damaged neck arteries or veins, aneurysms, blood clots, or cancers of the neck. The test is usually performed with and without intravenous dye.

Common Complications
There is a small risk of radiation. This risk is felt to be greater with babies and children. In some patients the dye can cause allergic reactions and/or kidney damage.
