Lower extremity joint MRI with dye

Description
MRI is magnetic resonance imaging, a special imaging test that does not use xrays. This procedure provides very detailed images of the joint and surrounding muscles and bones. This procedure can help identify arthritis, traumatic injuries, ligament tears, tendon ruptures, meniscus injuries, infections and fractures. An intravenous dye called gadolinium is used to obtain better images.

Cost

Common Complications
Gadolinium has been associated with a serious skin and connective tissue disease called nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF). It appears patients with kidney disease are at increased risk of developing NSF after gadolinium.
