Infusion (into the bloodstream)

Description
A medical treatment infusing fluids or drugs, into the bloodstream. Infusion therapy could occur at home, physician's office, hospital, or out-patient medical clinic.

Common Complications
Infection at the site of the intravenous catheter. A blood clot can develop in the vein being used for the infusion.
