In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Description
A procedure where a woman's egg and a man's sperm are joined in a laboratory dish. The embryo (combined egg and sperm) are then implanted into the uterus. This process is called an embryo transfer. The steps of the procedure include: causing the ovaries to make eggs (ovulation induction), collecting the eggs (follicular aspiration), combining the egg and sperm (insemination), and transferring the embryo.

Common Complications
Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting. The patient may not become pregnant.
