Immunization (shots)

Description
A medical therapy used to create an immune response. This may result in resistance to a specific disease. This is a common preventive therapy for certain infectious diseases. Immunizations can be administered in infants to adults pending schedules and recommendations set forth by the Centers for Disease Control.

Common Complications
Pain and swelling at the injection site. Rarely an infection at the site can occur. Allergic reactions to the immunization can occur.
