Ileostomy (external opening to the small intestine)

Description
A surgical procedure to create an opening into the ileum, a section of the small intestine, from the abdominal wall. An ileostomy allows for waste material to leave the intestinal tract through the abdominal wall after part of the intestine has been removed and may be needed to treat Crohn's disease and other conditions.
