Hyperthermic perfusion (cancer treatment)

Description
A medical procedure where warmed anticancer drugs are given to a patient to bathe, or pass through blood vessels of, the tissue or organ containing a tumor.

Common Complications
The loss of one's hair, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are common. At times a patient's blood cells are damaged resulting in low red blood cells (anemia), easy bleeding from low platelets (thrombocytopenia), and increased infections from a low white blood cell count (neutropenia).
