Hemodalysis (Filter and clean blood)
Description
A dialysis procedure that uses a machine to clean the blood. Kidney failure causes an accumulation of toxins in the blood and dialysis removes these toxins.

Common Complications
Infection and bleeding from the dialysis site. Dehydration and blood chemistry problems resulting in abnormal beating of the heart and low blood pressure. Skin itching and dryness. Elevated parathyroid hormone and calcium levels resulting in calcium deposits of various parts of the body.
