Hair replacement (transplantation)

Description
A surgical procedure where hair transplants are removed from an area where the missing hair will not show, such as the back of the head, just above the neck. This is referred to as the "donor site". The surgeon cuts tiny hair transplantation grafts from this strip of skin, then places them into tiny incisions in the balding area.

Common Complications
Numbness, swelling, scarring at donor site or recipient site, poor or no growth of grafts, unnatural appearance of transplanted hair. Any surgery can result in pain, infection or blood clots of the legs (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs (pulmonary embolus).
