Description
A procedure to produce a loss of feeling or awareness, that puts a person to sleep, for another procedure or surgery.

Common Complications
In healthy patients serious reactions to general anesthesia are rare. In patients with other illnesses the stress of general anesthesia can result in heart attack and stroke. Other complications include: aspiration (breathing in stomach contents), allergic reactions, and throat pain.
