Esophageal pH test

Description
The test measures the acidity in the esophagus. A low pH means the esophagus is too acidic which can lead to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). A tube is inserted through the nose into the esophagus just above the lower esophageal sphincter. The pH is monitored for a 12-24 hour period.
