Epidural block (spinal cord anesthesia)
Description
A procedure injecting an anesthetic drug into the space between the wall of the spinal canal and the covering of the spinal cord to produce anesthesia below that level of the spinal cord.

Common Complications
Infection, pain, bleeding outside the spinal cord, and injury of a nerve can occur. A headache from a spinal leak called a spinal or postural headache can also occur.
