Dexamethasone suppression test

Description
A test that measures the response of the adrenal glands to the synthetic form of cortisol called dexamethasone. It is used to help diagnose why a patient has too much cortisol such as in Cushing's disease. The amount of cortisol is measured after a patient is given dexamethasone. Dexamethasone should decrease the amount of cortisol the body produces.
