Coronary angioplasty (unclog heart arteries)
Description
A medical procedure used to restore flow through narrowed or blocked arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. At times a tube (stent) is inserted into the opened vessel to keep it form re-blocking.

Common Complications
Damage to the blood vessels of the heart or leg, rarely requiring immediate surgery. The contrast used can rarely damage the kidneys. Some patients can be allergic to the contrast causing a reaction from a rash to life threatening swelling or drop in blood pressure.
