Computed tomography angiogram CTA (artery CT scan)
Description
A diagnostic exam involving a CT scan and intravenous contrast that can be used to diagnose problems of the arteries of the body including aneurysms, blood clots, dissections and traumatic injuries.

Common Complications
CT scans require radiation. All radiation increases the risk of cancer later in life. The contrast used in a CTA can rarely damage the kidneys, and some patients can be allergic to the contrast resulting in a rash to life-threatening swelling and low blood pressure.
