Description

A sample of the colon (large intestine) is taken through a colonoscope during a procedure called a colonoscopy. A colonoscope is a long tube with a camera on the end that enables the doctor to see the inside of the colon. The sample is then evaluated to diagnose inflammatory bowel disease, infections, cancer and other colon diseases.

Rectal bleeding, perforation of the colon. Perforation of the colon can cause a serious infection in the abdomen.
