Cardioversion (convert heart beat rhythm)

Description
A medical procedure using electrical currents to restore the heart beat to a normal rhythm when a patient has a chronic irregular heart rhythm or a new arrhythmia. Atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supra-ventricular tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia are the most common abnormal rhythms.

Common Complications
Sedation given for the procedure can result in allergic reactions or breathing problems. Pain and residual soreness are the most common side effects.
