Brain CTA (CT angiogram)

Description
A special xray that enables a doctor to see abnormalities of the brain and blood vessels of the brain. This test is most often used to detect strokes, blocked arteries causing strokes, aneurysms, brain injuries, bleeding in the brain, and cancers of the brain. The test is usually performed with and without dye.

Common Complications
There is a small risk of radiation. This risk is felt to be greater with babies and children. In some patients the dye can cause allergic reactions and/or kidney damage.
