Biopsy (remove cells or tissue)

Description
A procedure to remove cells or tissue for examination under a microscope. Removal of the entire tissue is called excisional. Removal of a sample with a needle is called a needle or aspiration biopsy.

Common Complications
Infection at the biopsy site. Damage of surrounding tissue or underlying nerves or blood vessels.
