BHCG (Beta human chorionic gonadotropin) is produced during pregnancy and is measured in the urine and blood to diagnose a pregnancy. In pregnancy the hormone is made by the placenta and can be detected 11 days after becoming pregnant. The hormone is also elevated in certain tumors.
