Aortography (xray of aorta)

Description
The aorta is the large artery that arises from the heart and supplies blood to the entire body. Aortography is an examination of the aorta using x-rays after the injection of contrast dye.

Common Complications
Injury to the artery during injection of the contrast dye. The contrast can rarely damage the kidneys and some patients can have an allergic reaction to the dye. The allergic reaction can be mild to life threatening.
