Anterior cervical disectomy (neck disc surgery)

Description
Cervical discectomy with fusion involves relieving the pressure on the nerves or spinal cord by removing the offending disc or bony spurs. A bone graft is placed between the bones where the disc was removed which fuses the two vertebra together. The spine is approached from the anterior (front) part of the neck. Many times hardware is inserted to help the bones heal after surgery.
