Anoscopy

Description
Anoscopy is performed by inserting a tube into the rectum to look at the lining of the rectum. The test is done to determine the cause of rectal bleeding or pain such as hemorrhoids, inflammation (proctitis), polyps, or cancer.

Common Complications
The rectum can be injured although perforation is very rare.
