Description
A diagnostic imaging procedure. The ultrasound device is pressed against the abdomen, and sound waves from the device bounce off tissues and create echoes. The pictures can be used to diagnose abnormalities of the liver, gallbladder, spleen, appendix, pancreas, kidneys, blood vessels and other conditions. Also known as transabdominal ultrasound.
