Description

An abnormal and malignant growth of cells in the tonsil. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common. Tonsillar cancer accounts for 1.5% to 3.3% of all cancers and is the second most common cancer of the upper airway. It is most often seen in those 50 or older and is more common in smokers and alcohol drinkers.

Pain with swallowing, asymmetric swelling of a tonsil, isolated neck mass, difficulty opening mouth, muffled voice, ear pain.

Tests

A history and physical exam will be performed. Tests to confirm the diagnosis and define the extent of the disease will be done.

Treatment

Treatment
