Description

Medications are a common cause of nausea. Almost all medications can cause nausea but chemotherapy agents, narcotics and antibiotics are the most common classes. Usually anti-nausea medications can be given to relieve these symptoms or substitutes can be found.

A history and physical exam will be performed.

Treatment

Treatment

If possible the medication causing the nausea can be stopped. Anti-nausea medication (promethazine/Phenergan, ondansetron/Zofran) can be prescribed. These can be taken orally, sublingually (under the tongue), rectally or as an injection.
