Medications That Cause Bleeding

Description
Many medications cause bleeding with the most common being the antiplatelet medications and the anticoagulants. Antiplatelet medications include: aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), ticlopidine (Ticlid), cilostazol (Pletal), and dipyridamole (Persantine). Anticoagulant medications include: warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, and enoxaparin (Lovenox).

Symptoms
Easy bruising, easy bleeding, nose bleeding, blood in stools, black tarry stools.

Tests
A history and physical exam will be performed. Blood tests will be done to measure the ability to clot blood.
- CBC
- BHCG
- CT Scan
- EKG
Treatment
