The use of hormones (estrogen and progesterone) to treat the discomforts of menopause or to replace hormones lost after menopause. Some women may have side effects including: irregular vaginal bleeding, water retention, bloating, nausea, breast soreness, mood swings, and headaches. Changing the dosage or the form of HRT may help to reduce these side effects.
