Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Description
Chronic and recurrent episodes of anxiety. It is a psychological disorder in which anxiety and fear become so severe they prevent a patient from performing their normal daily activities. The exact cause of this disorder is not known but it is felt to be a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

Symptoms
Anxiety, constant worry, panic, dread, difficulty concentrating.

Tests
A history and physical exam will be performed. Tests to rule out other cause of the symptoms may be done.
- CBC
- Chem 12
- BHCG
- UA
- CT Scan
Treatment
Treatment includes anti-anxiety medications (benzodiazepines), andidepressants, and counseling.
