Foreign Body In Respiratory Tract

Description
A respiratory tract foreign body is usually accidentally inhaled (aspirated), is a common pediatric emergency, and may cause a serious lung infection. It needs to be removed by a specialist.

Symptoms
Cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, fever, sputum.

Tests
A history and physical exam will be performed. An X-ray or bronchoscopy may be done to locate the foreign body.
Standard Workup
- X-Ray
- CT Scan
Treatment
Removal of the foreign body with bronchoscopy.
