Ant Bite

Description
Ant bites can cause local irritation, itching, and allergic reactions.

Symptoms
Localized swelling and itching.

Tests
A history and physical exam will be performed.
Treatment
Symptomatic treatment includes antihistamines for itching, cold compresses, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications/NSAIDs (ibuprofen/Motrin or Advil, naproxen/Naprosyn),acetaminophen(Tylenol).

I live in Southeast Texas where there's a multitude of fire ants. Just read your iTriage blog on fire ants. Can we ship some of these critters up north? I'm tired of being stung by them. Haven't tried the cold compresses, but I'll try that next time. Thanks.
