Ace Inhibitor Use (Blood Pressure Medication)

Description
ACE inhibitors are angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and are prescribed for blood pressure control. Common drugs are lisinipril, captopril, enalapril, and ramipril. Side effects of the medications include low blood pressure, persistent cough and swelling of the lips and tongue (angioedema).

Symptoms
Low blood pressure, weakness, cough, lip/tongue swelling.

Tests
A history and physical exam will be performed.
Treatment
Stopping the medication usually reverses the adverse effects.
